Might in discussion with OEM company on NNCP

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Industry-Government Group For High Technology (MIGHT) as the implementation agency for the New National Car Project (NNCP) has identified and is in discussion with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) company to collaborate on the project.

Entrepreneur Development Minister (MED) Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof said his ministry has also established NNCP portal in the ministry’s official website to identify automotive vendors which possessed the facilities and infrastructure to support NNCP.

“As of now, 145 companies have registered according to the list of parts and components supplied by the vendors.

“The ministry and MIGHT are currently conducting analysis on the list of local vendors registered with MED to match the anchor company with vendors to identify the components that can be supplied,” he said in Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

He was replying to a question by Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (PAS-Pasir Puteh) who wanted to know about the status of NNCP and its vendor development programme.

A match between the anchor company and the vendors would create a more systematic mechanism on the supply of parts and components as well as to uplift the technical skills, said Mohd Redzuan.

He said the measure would also ensure the supply of parts and components adhered to the standard and quality of NNCP,

Meanwhile, he said the NNCP would be spearheaded and funded by the private sector with the government act as the facilitator of the project. — Bernama
