JCI Labuan donates to school’s programme

-

LABUAN: JCI Labuan visited the Integrated Special Education Program (PPKI) of SMK Lajau on April 11 to hand over a RM1,500 cheque from the proceeds of its Installation & Awards Banquet (IAB) ticket sales which was held on March 9 at Lazenda Hotel Labuan.

After receiving some feedback from the teachers on the school’s inadequate classroom conditions, JCI Labuan has used the additional donation of RM1,356 which was collected during the PPKI Students’ final performance on their IAB night to purchase an air-conditioning unit for one of the classrooms, and 10 tables and chairs for another classroom.

The supply of tables and the installation cost for the airconditioning unit were being partly sponsored by Pilly Furniture Centre and Yun Kwang Electrical & Lighting Sdn Bhd respectively.

JCI Labuan thanks both companies for their generous contributions and hopes that with these amenities, the teachers and students are able to perform better in class.

After the event, JCI Labuan members were being treated with freshly baked bread rolls which were baked in the commercial oven donated by members earlier in January this year.

The teachers shared that the commercial oven has almost quadrupled their daily baking capacity, and has also improved the quality of their baked goods. Their freshly baked breads are very popular among students, teachers and parents.

The students are not only able to practice and improve their baking skills; they are also able to contribute towards the school’s fund-raising endeavours.

JCI Labuan is glad to hear such positive feedback and is looking forward to initiating more impactful and sustainable projects for the Labuan community.
