Homedec Penang aims for RM15 mln in sales transactions
GEORGE TOWN: The current Home Design and Interior Exhibition (Homedec) in Penang is expected to rake in RM15 million in sales transactions, said its organiser C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd.
Senior manager of advertising and promotion Lim Wye Ling said the 17th edition of Homedec offered discounts of up to 80 per cent for selected goods from over 40 brands for homes.
"There are a lot of choices among the best deals that they can find here," she told a press conference after the opening of Homedec Penang at Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Bayan Baru, near here yesterday.
She said Homedec Penang also offered exceptional advice, knowledge and tips for smarter living and the latest know-hows on quality home designs, furniture and appliances from 160 exhibitors taking up 420 booths.
"We are actually hoping to guide the buyers every step of the way; that is why we believe that making the right home decision from the start is very important so that they will not make mistakes that require them to spend extra money, especially at this time when the economic growth is slower," she said.
Lim said the three-day exhibition, which kicked off today, was expected to attract about 29,000 visitors.
Meanwhile, when asked whether the recent opening of IKEA in Batu Kawan would affect sales at the exhibition, she said Homedec offered services and products that were different from what IKEA had to offer, including giving a lot of tips.
"We are collaborating with experts not just in Penang but also in Kuala Lumpur. We have different experts to teach people how to renovate their homes from start to finish," she said.
Lim said the company also planned to collaborate with the broadcast media in the future to produce a programme to share tips about home design with the public.
