Motorcyclist injured in collision with car
TAWAU: A 25-year-old motorcyclist suffered broken bones after an accident with a Proton Saga car in front of the junction of SMK Abaka, Merotai Road on Tuesday.
District acting police chief Superintendent Nor Azizulkifli Mansor said in the 1.15pm incident, the victim suffered broken bones on his right thigh and left leg, and also bleeding on his head and stomach, while the Proton’s 26-year-old driver was not hurt.
He said the Proton driver was on the way to the school to pick up his sister and the incident happened when the driver suddenly turned into a junction to enter the school’s main gate and was hit by the victim riding a Yamaha motorcycle coming from Tawau.
Investigation showed the accident was caused by the Proton driver’s carelessness while entering the junction, he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1)(A) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
In another accident, a 30-yearold Nissan Almera driver escaped injury after he rammed into the rear of a bus at Taman Ria 9 bus stop on Tuesday.
District acting police chief Superintendent Nor Azizulkifli Mansor said in the 11.20am incident the 40-year-old bus driver signalled left to let down passengers and was suddenly rammed from behind by the Nissan driver.
He said investigation showed that the cause of the accident was due to the carelessness of Nissan driver.
The case is being investigated Rule 10 Road Traffic Rules 166/59.
