Eliminate vices to create firstclass civil service community – minister

-

KOTA KINABALU: Eliminate vices to create a first-class civil service community within the ministry, urged State Law and Native Affairs Minister Datuk Aidi Moktar.

Aidi said that to realize the government's vision to become a respected and par excellence minded people, Sabah needs civil servants that are dynamic, efficient and able to view issues retrospectively and holistically, amongst other things.

"The negative attitude and work culture practised and demonstrated by a few civil servants should not only be avoided and completely eroded;the lazy job quality needs to be improved towards building an excellent work culture to be able to reach first-class employees regardless of the position they hold," he said at the Excellence Service Award (APC) 2018 at Hilton Hotel here yesterday.

Aidi said every staff of Islamic Religious Affairs Department of Sabah (JHEAINS) needs to find their placing and build a sense of belonging to provide the best service for its customers.

"In this regard, I would like to call upon each leader, either at the division level or the management level to devise strategies to ensure its staff can contribute their time, energy and problem-solving ideas in delivering excellent service.

"At the same time, their welfare have not been neglected because the success you've enjoyed so far comes from teamwork. I would like to emphasize that as a public service citizen, the staff should not be satisfied with the level of public service delivery system currently attained so that all existing efforts are sufficient," he added.

JHEAINS director Saiful Zaman Sangul said the awards ceremony involved an overall of 101 people, 28 APC recipients, 24 retirees, 21 open VOT officers and 10 exchange officers.

He said JHEAINS also acknowledged 21 open VOT members that have shown outstanding commitment and work performance besides making significant contribution to the department.

Some 42 retirees were also celebrated during the ceremony.
