Civil society to hold forum discussing Sarawak youths, employment

-

KUCHING: Non-partisan civil society Rise of Sarawak Efforts (Rose) is organising the first series of ‘Chat with Rose' public forums on the topic of ‘Youth and Employment in Sarawak: Opportunities or Challenge'.

The session is set to take place on the Concourse Level of Summer Mall in Kota Samarahan this April 27, scheduled to run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang is one of the panellists. The elected representative is also a practising lawyer, and the information chief of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

The other panellist is Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) Sarawak secretary Andrew Lo.

The two personalities will discuss and share with participants their views on employment opportunities – or the lack thereof – in Sarawak, the challenges and issues that this poses to the youths and other job-seekers, and what needs to be done by respective parties and stakeholders to close the gap.

Students and youths, working and non-working, are invited to the forum.

“The objective of these chat forums is to enable free and open discourse on issues that affect Sarawakians, which might otherwise remain within the realm of policy-makers.

“It is hoped that by having such forums, it would contribute towards the sharing of valuable information, besides giving an opportunity for engagement by all parties and stakeholders,” said Rose in a statement.
