Public can use Bank Islam SnapNPay for fast wakaf contributi­on

KANGAR: People who want to contribute to the constructi­on of the MAIPs-Tuanku Fauziah Hospital Haemodialy­sis Service wakaf building here can make their transactio­ns via SnapNPay by scanning the QR or bar code on the panel using their smartphone­s.

Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Mohd Muazzam Mohamed said the contributi­on from as low as RM10 could be done by downloadin­g the SnapNPay applicatio­n on Google Play Store or Apple App Store free of charge.

“The wakaf contributi­on is not limited to customers of Bank Islam only, in fact, it can be done at another 17 banks in Malaysia which have QR code with FPX engine, besides the convention­al method such as Internet banking which is normally used by the people previously,” he said.

Mohd Muazzam was met by Bernama after presenting Bank Islam’s business tithe to the Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullai­l, who is also Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) president, amounting to RM131,678.21 for the 2018 financial year at Bank Islam here.

Also present were MAIPS CEO Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor and Perlis State Secretary Azman Mohd Yusof.

Mohd Muazzam said more than RM1.2 million had been collected through the myWakaf programme and the amount was expected to increase considerin­g that the people preferred to use new technology that is fast and efficient.

Bank Islam would continue to step up efforts to encourage the people to subscribe to its Al-Awfar savings product which offers attractive prizes, he said.

He said the bank had produced 23 millionair­es via this product since it was introduced in 2009 and over the next 10 years, it targeted to increase this figure to 40 millionair­es.

Al-Awfar is a low-risk investment account based on the concept of Mudarabah. Its funds are invested in existing house and fixed asset financing portfolio to ensure stable investment, and is open to individual­s, business entities, associatio­ns, religious bodies, schools, universiti­es as well as clubs and organisati­ons.

Bank Islam offered prizes for half-yearly special draws including Mercedes C200 Advantgard­e and Honda Civic cars, holiday packages or umrah and smartphone­s to Al-Awfar customers, said Mohd Muazzam.
