Khairy running out of ‘modal’ in politics — Guan Eng
SANDAKAN: Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said Khairy Jamaluddin had ‘run out of modal in politics’ for saying that two of the 49 projects that were approved by Finance Ministry for development in Sandakan was Barisan Nasional’s (BN) idea.
“I want to ask Khairy: why were these projects not implemented during BN’s time? BN only knows how to talk but does not know how to do (what they say they want to do). What is important here is the implementation,” Lim said.
Lim emphasised that RM20 million, channelled to upgrade the Sandakan airport project, would start this year.
“That is the problem with the previous Government: they announce a project and we wait and it does not happen,” he added at a press conference held after the Townhall Session programme held at Sandakan Community Centre here, yesterday.
On Monday, the Ministry of Finance released a statement that the Government had approved 49 development projects amounting to RM2.28 billion which would include three parliamentary constituencies of Sandakan, Batu Sapi, and Libaran.
He said RM183 million would be channelled through the projects this year.
Two projects were highlighted in the statement including RM40 million for Sungai Anib Flood Mitigation Plan and RM80 million for widening and lengthening of Sandakan Airport railway as well as for upgrading of the airport.
Khairy, who is Rembau MP, recently stated that the two development projects in Sandakan, including the widening and lengthening of Sandakan Airport railway, and Sungai Anip Flood Mitigation Plan, were initiatives of the BN administration.
