Liew teases Tsen’s chances after losing Batu Sapi in GE14

-

SANDAKAN: Batu Sapi member of parliament Datuk Liew Vui Keong made a slight dig at Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) candidate for the Sandakan parliamentary byelection, Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin.

“Linda lost in Batu Sapi, and now she is going to Sandakan to contest,” he said.

Liew made the remark to some 1,000 attendees at the Ceramah Perdana organised by DAP for its candidate, Vivian Wong Shir Yee, at the campaign on Saturday night.

“If she (Linda) is so great, how did she lose in Batu Sapi? After she had lost, she now ‘runs’ to Sandakan to contest,” said the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law).

Yesterday, Tsen responded to Liew’s statement by saying that Liew had also lost in the P.185 Sandakan seat contest in the 13th general election and then contested for the Batu Sapi parliamentary seat in the last election and winning it.

“Do we give up just because we lost one time? No, we fight. There are so many people that have lost many times but still go on. (We) must have fighting spirit,” she said.

Tsen, who was Batu Sapi MP from 2010 until 2018, said this after a walkabout session in Taman Damai at mile 3.5 here, yesterday.

She also said that she may have a disadvantage in getting a head start in her campaign as she is only familiar with Elopura constituency and not so with Tanjong Papat.

“I may have a slight disadvantage compared to the other candidates because I used to be in Batu Sapi. In the past, it had always been LDP’s (Liberal Democratic Party) seat, so they would know the area better. But during this campaign period, I will try to meet as many people as possible because some of them here may not have seen me in person before,” she said.
