KKJA to present 37 study awards to members’ children
KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) will be holding its annual general meeting (AGM) cum presentation of study awards for members’ children at Hakka Hall on May 1.
This year, KKJA will be giving out 37 awards to members’ children who have shown outstanding academic results and co-curriculum achievements.
Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, Liang Caide and advisors of the association have been invited to the ceremony.
KKJA chairman Yong Ted Phen said the AGM would start at 11am sharp and urged members to arrive before 10.30am for registration.
To encourage punctuality, there will be early bird gifts for the first 40 members who register for the AGM.
Breakfast will be served before the meeting.
Yong said several matters would be discussed in the AGM, including proposed amendment to the KKJA Constitution.
Meanwhile, the presentation of study awards will commence at 12 noon after the AGM.
Yong said the association’s deputy chairman Tang Pok Ngai, who heads the study awards subcommittee, has evaluated all the applications.
“We will be giving out 37 awards this year, including 30 for academic excellence and seven for co-curriculum achievements.”
He said the recipients include kindergartener (1), primary school pupils (11), secondary school students (6), varsity students (12) and co-curricular achievers (7).
Lunch will be served after the presentation ceremony.
