Tambadaus Junior may battle without head coach

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Tambadaus Junior faces the possibility of taking on Selangor United FC without head coach Justin Ganai at the Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi Stadium in Sepang today.

Justin, who missed the 2-0 win over PJ City FC here last week after falling unconscious following a freak training incident, failed to board the plane with the rest of the squad yesterday.

“I needed medical attention due to high blood pressure... that was why I did not travel. However, there is nothing serious according to the doctor. I’m in stable condition...I need to just take a good rest,” he explained yesterday.

Despite the health problem, Justin is still keen to join his players in the President Cup Group A match, although he would wait until today before making a decision.

On the match, Justin hoped the players would build on their victory against one of the top teams PJ City FC last week with another three points in the bag.

“With or without me, I want the players to extend the winning momentum. The points are quite close among the teams except for, of course, the leaders Selangor. So, we need as many points in order to keep pace with the teams above us,” he added.

Sabah are currently seventh in Group A on 11 points with three wins, two draws and three losses. The teams above them are leaders Selangor on 18 points, PJ City FC (15 points), JDT III (14), Pahang (13), Kedah (12) and UiTM FC (12).

Sabah, however, could not afford to lose points as the teams below them, including their opponents today, Selangor United FC, and Penang are on 10 points each. Only basement side Armed Forces FC have yet to register a single point in the group.

Meanwhile, the other Group A matches today will see PJ City FC host Selangor in a top-ofthe-table clash, Pahang against Penang and Kedah to take on JDT III.
