Chef, trainee air steward win Mister Kaamatan Kapayan and Putatan
KOTA KINABALU: Chef trainee Remeo Anjulus, 22, and trainee air steward Harold Nick Henry, 24, respectively won the Mister Kaamatan Kapayan 2019 and Mister Kaamatan Putatan 2019 at the glittering Mister Kaamatan Kapayan and Putatan 2019 Contest held on April 28 at the Pan Borneo Hotel, Putatan.
The event, which was attended by over 300 guests, was officiated by Jannie Lasimbang, the assemblywoman of Kapayan, and the Assistant Minister of Law and Native Affairs Sabah.
In her speech, Jannie encouraged the contestants to be warriors in promoting and sustaining the Kadazan Dusun Murut Rungus (KDMR) culture, traditions and languages.
Also present at the event was Casey Jovial, the chairman of the State Level Mister Kaamatan Organising Committee.
Adina Affendy, the organising chairperson of the event, said that her organising committee took three months to prepare for the event, which involved training in public speaking, catwalking and grooming of the 21 KDMR contestants selected through a series of auditions.
The contestants were judged on their proficiency in the KDMR languages, IQ, traditional costume, presentation and looks.
In her speech, Adina thanked her organising committee, the sponsors, the contestants and the guests for helping to make the event a resounding success.
The event is a Corporate Service Responsibility (CSR) project of Synergy Training Services PLT, a training company of which Adina is the marketing director.
The second to sixth runnersup of the contest were Hazli Ali Zapar, Aaron Ryandell Oilon, Nathasius Julian Jules, Jovers Oliver Jopot and Junio Anthony respectively.
Meanwhile, the winners of the subsidiary titles were Mr Popular Nathasius Julian Jules, Mr Friendly, Mr Intelligent Hazli Ali Zapar and Mr Congeniality Almon Bakri.
Remeo and Harold are joint winners of the contest, and are now qualified to participate in the Mr Kaamatan State Level Contest, together with 44 other district winners, which will be held on June 29 in Kota Kinabalu.
