Linda the right choice – PBS Youth

-

SANDAKAN: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) second echelon leaders, most of whom are highly successful professionals, are fully behind Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin’s candidacy for the Sandakan parliamentary by-election.

PBS Youth chief Christopher Mandut said several young professionals were identified as potential flag bearer for the party in the by-election but they opted to give way to Linda.

“We recognise that it is crucial to field an experienced leader to deal with the many issues and problems besetting Sandakan, and it is for this reason we fully support Linda’s candidacy,” Mandut said.

PBS president Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Ongkili had when announcing Linda’s candidacy a day before nomination, said that he had taken the liberty to interview several young potential candidates.

“We appreciate that our party president was mindful of the need to field a fresh candidate, but in the end, we have to magnanimously accept that under the present circumstances, Linda is the right person to contest the seat,” said Mandut.

He was optimistic that the party would consider fielding many young leaders in the next general election.

“Our president recognises the need to inject freshness in the party,” he said.

The PBS Youth machinery, with involvement from its central exco at the divisional level, has immediately after the nomination went full swing in campaigning for Linda’s victory.
