Abdul Rahim pips 54 others to top caddy golf prize

KOTA KINABALU: It was an exciting finish to the Caddy Golf Tournament that was held at the Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) here, Tuesday.

Fifty-five caddies took the chance to strut their stuff in this fourth edition of the annual tournament.

Out of all that stood out in the one-day competitio­n, it was Abdul Rahim who emerged top of the order with a 12-over par 84 to clinch the gross title.

He nicked it on count back (OCB) after Radin Yusuf tied the score and Sabrie Reman finishing in third by a onestroke margin. Amlune @ Mazlan Semar took fourth spot with an 86. Ben Hapur came away with the title from a five-way tie in the nett category under the System 36 Stableford format.

He scored 36 points, along with Jenson Masuin and Nani Madison in second and third respective­ly, while Adelyster Paul @ Joko and Razman Tamin completed the top five.

Meanwhile, tournament director Ronnie Pancratius congratula­ted all the players for taking part in the tournament.

“The objective is to strengthen relations between caddies and golfers. They (caddies) came from all over Sabah just to compete in this event and we thank all of them for their commitment,” he said.

The State developmen­t coach also thanked the Youth and Sports Ministry and SGCC for their continued support.

Ronnie also expressed appreciati­on to the tournament’s sponsors, which included Builders Emporium Sdn Bhd, among others.

Member of the Board of Directors for the Sabah Sports Board Aliudin Jumaat attended the closing ceremony accompanie­d by SGCC president Siak Vui Ming.

Also present was Sabah Golf Associatio­n’s executive committee member Donni Intung.
