Accusations false – Darell

-

PENAMPANG: Action must be taken over complaints of abuse of power and corruption, said Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) deputy president Datuk Darell Leiking.

“When we hear (such) a rumour, we must act on it and not let it remain a rumour. In this party, we have heard talks and we will look into it. If the rumour is verified, we will take disciplinary action against those involved amd will charge them in court.

“So the basis is that whether there is such a thing going on or not we must listen to the rakyat’s voice that raised this issue,” he said when speaking to reporters after officiating at the joint opening of Warisan’s Wira, Wanita and Wirawati movements here yesterday.

Darell also stressed that there is a need to address the never-ending accusation of the party issuing citizenship to illegal immigrants.

“The accusation on social media and by the opposition is that Warisan is ‘breeding’ illegal immigrants. This is not true. I have asked for evidence but none has been shown.

“Why? Because the accusations are false or maybe the accusors have friends in the previous government that were doing this. Now they are ashamed and if they expose this, they will expose the nasty work of the previous government,” he opined.

In his speech earlier, Darell who won the deputy president’s post uncontested reminded party members that with unity they can conquer all.

Using the movies Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: End Game, as examples, Darell pointed out that the in Infinity War, the superheroes lost to their foe Thanos because they were not united.

“But they came together in End Game and defeated the enemy. That is how we must be too,” he stressed.

The Penampang Member of Parliament also addressed the issue of him not being around to serve the constituents personally as he had done in the past.

“In my case I apologise to the constituents but the portfolio I have been appointed too means that I have to be out of the country a lot. As the Minister of International Trade and Industry, I have been tasked to encourage and secure investments for the country and at the same time for the state.

“My Service Centre Khidmat is here for them. I have five teams on the ground doing the work and for me there is no need to publisize all that has been done and the results are seen.

“I know my constituents want me to be physically here with them but with my five team, it has a multiplier effect as they get to meet more people. Those who question my absence do so because there people who don’t want you to succeed.

“I wish to be here because I also do not get to see my wife and kids but while I have a duty to my constituents and I also have one for the country,” he said.
