-

A unemployed man was jailed and fined by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for molesting an online businesswoman.

Magistrate Afiq Agoes sentenced Mohd Hazmeruul Yusop to 30 months’ jail plus RM600 fine, in default, three months’ imprisonment after the latter admitted to squeezing the victim’s breasts at a basement stairs of a shopping complex here on April 23.

The prosecution told the court that before the incident, both the accused and the victim had just become friends when they met at Api-Api Centre here and the accused introduced himself as Ismail.

Both of them were chit chatting and in their conversations, the accused had mentioned that he wanted to take his passport at a shopping complex nearby while the victim was planning to charge her cellphone at the same place. So they agreed to walk together to the said place.

Upon reaching the complex, the accused brought the victim to the third floor of the building and immediately went to the car park and went down again to the basement using the stairs from the third floor.

While going down, the accused had made a few attempts to hug the victim and take photos of the act but the victim, 33, refused to let him do it.

The accused also attempted to pull the victim’s left hand to touch his private parts but she managed to struggle free and pushed him to the wall.

The 26-year-old accused then pushed the victim to the wall and took the advantage to squeeze both her breasts before fleeing.

The victim lodged a police report a few hours after the incident and the police arrested the accused on May 1.
