Reformists 98 Sarawak chairman makes police report against Fadillah

-

Reformists 98 Sarawak chairman Iswardy Morni lodged a police report against Petra Jaya Member of Parliament, Dato Sri Fadillah Yusuf at the One Stop Centre Simpang Tiga here, yesterday.

Iswardy who was accompanied by several members of the organisation from Batang Sadong, Saribas, and Kota Samarahan, said the report was against a statement made by Fadillah’s during the MA63 seminar at one of the convention centres here recently.

“Speaking in Malay, he was quoted by several newspapers and online portals he said that if Pakaktan Harapan Harapan (PH) were to control the State Legislative Assembly, first thing they would do is to abolish Sarawak’s immigration autonomy and also the Oil Mining ordinance 1958.

“That particular statement is very dangerous because Fadillah refers to or is insinuating something to this effect, ‘if something happens’ Pakatan Harapan government will take over DUN, there will be unrest and Sarawak rights will be eroded.

“We are free to engage or to have our political beliefs, and we are free to talk about our rights enshrined in the MA1963 or any other matter, but at the same time, do not incite the people, it’s a breach of peace, which is, Fadillah as a lawyer, he should understand,” said Iswardy.

He added according to the Sedition Act and it is an offence under Penal Code under Section 504, to make statements which could cause breach of peace.

“We debated with facts but not inciting something like this, we in Sarawak should avoid what was done in Semenanjung by UMNO and PAS, who play up the religions, and other sentiments,” he said.
