Maintain integrity, ESSCom commander tells personnel

- By Azmie Lim

Members of the security forces who are on duty at the Road Check Point (RCP) were urged to maintain their integrity and not to involve in activities that violated the national law.

Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) commander DCP Datuk Hazani Ghazali said action would be taken against any personnel found involved in an offence related to corruption or integrity.

“I hope security forces members at the RCP will maintain their integrity and stay away from any illegal activities such as corruption.

“I will not hesitate to take stern action against any members who are found involved in any offence,” he said in his speech at the breaking of fast ceremony on Friday.

During the programme, ESSCom also presented two All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) to facilitate the patrolling and collecting of information on the movement of smugglers or illegal immigrants.

Hazani said the presentation of the ATVs was aimed to enhance intelligence on the movement of individuals using illegal paths that existed at the RCP areas.

The ATVs, he said, were for monitoring and spot checks as well as for road blocks based on information received.

Meanwhile, Hazani hoped all members at the RCP will double their efforts in obtaining information about activities that violated the national law.

“We were informed that there are a lot of illegal paths (Lorong Tikus) in the RCP areas.

“We will ask for assistance from the nearest police headquarters to increase our manpower in both RCPs including a proposal to place traffic personnel so that they could issue summons immediately,” he added.
