Forum to get younger generation to join politics

-

Liberal Democratic Party’s (LDP) Central Youth Movement, Women Movement and New Generation Movement have jointly organized a political forum in Tawau and Sandakan last weekend to inspire the younger generation to get interested and engaged in politics.

The well-received event featured seasoned politicians, LDP honorary life president Tan Sri Datuk Chong Kah Kiat JP and President Datuk Chin Su Phin, who shared their unique viewpoints to tackle political apathy among youngsters.

LDP Central Youth Movement leader Sim Fui thanked Chong and Chin for taking time out for the forum in effort to arouse young people’s interest in politics.

“We have identified several issues since the 14th General Election (GE14), particularly in how to attract more young people to involve in political activities.

“We believe LDP is a great platform for youngsters to put their energy into to effect change.”

Sim said the sharing sessions by senior leaders was one of the measures taken by the party in nurturing younger leaders and ensuring they have a positive mindset.

“Our country needs more younger voices to speak up.

“We hope more young people will get political active to ensure their aspirations and needs are heard at the highest level.”

Also present were LDP Vice President Yew Chau Khiong, Secretary General Senator Datuk Yong Wui Chung, Organizing Secretary Chiang Bhat Sing, Central Women Leader Wong Kuen Yin and Central New-Gen Movement Leader Eric Lau Kah Hon.
