Good response to Go Bald campaign in Bintulu

-

The second leg of the ‘Go Bald' campaign, which was held at The Spring Bintulu last Sunday, received good response from the local community, with over RM56,000 raised and a total of 40 heads shaved.

Sarawak Children's Cancer Society (SCCS) president Jocelyn Hee said although the amount raised might not be as much as in previous years, the effort by the non-profit organisations and individuals to pledge donations and participate in the campaign was much appreciated.

“It is understood that the economy has not been well in recent years, yet many do show us the support for the awareness against childhood cancer.

“In fact, we feel proud of them and their kind thoughts; every support received is beyond what words could describe,” said Hee.

She expressed gratitude to non-profit organisations and private entities such as Fei Xiang Dancing Academy, Teo Chew Association of Bintulu, and Lotus Light Charity Society for their support and contribution to the campaign.

“These associations had even arranged performances in between the shaving sessions, to ease the emotion and create a merrier ambience among the crowd. Aside from expressing gratitude, we have nothing but kind words for them,” said Hee.

The third and final legs of the Go Bald campaign would take place happen in Sibu this May 19, and in Kuching on May 26.

For Sibu, the event would be run at Delta Mall from 11am to 4pm. Pledge cards are still available at Tanahmas Hotel, from 10am to 8pm daily.

For the Kuching leg, the event would be conducted at Vivacity Megamall, also from 11am to 4pm. The pledge cards are still available at Vivacity Megamall information counter, from 11am to 9pm daily.

The pledge cards can also be obtained from SCCS office at Taman Desa Wira in Kuching, from 9am to 4pm (Mondays-Fridays).
