As in previous years, the consulate is contributing RMB50,000 in support of the dragon boat race.

Goh thanked the consulate for its huge support to the federation in organizing the Chinese cultural activity.

He said the race had attracted not only Sabah, Sarawak and West Malaysian teams, but also participants from Guangdong Province, China, the Philippines, Brunei and Indonesia.

“Last year the race saw over 100 participating teams and we are expecting the same number of participation this year.

Goh added that FCAS had grown into a household name in Sabah, which showed that the dragon boat race had become a much loved sports activity among the people.

Meanwhile, organizing chairlady Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen said a dragon boat team from Guangdong would be making a comeback this year after achieving quite an impressive record in the third and sixth editions of the race in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
