RM10,000 up for grabs at YSG women's futsal tournament

KOTA KINABALU: Yayasan Sabah Group (YSG) will be organising the women's futsal tournament on Sept 28 at Yayasan Sabah Group Futsal Arena 1 and 2, adjacent to Menara Tun Mustapha, Likas.

According to the group manager, Corporate Communicat­ions Division of Yayasan Sabah Group, Sam S. Karnail, the tournament is targeted for women aged 16 and above.

"Each team will comprise 10 players, with the preliminar­y round of the tournament to be played in a league format consisting of four teams in each group," he said.

"Only the top two teams of each group will qualify to compete in the next round. Each team are only allowed two players who have represente­d the state or who have played in the national league," he explained.

"A total cash prize of RM10,000 is up for grabs, with the champion walking away with RM5,000. The runner-up will receive RM3,000 while semifinali­sts will each receive RM1,000," he added.

Yayasan Sabah Group now offers seven internatio­nal FIFA Standard futsal courts for the public.

The tournament entry fee is RM500 per team and entry forms can be obtained from Tun Adnan Sports Complex, Yayasan Sabah Group during office hours (8 am - 5 pm) and at the futsal counter (5pm - midnight) apart from other futsal arenas around Kota Kinabalu, he said.

The closing date for entries is Sept 12 at noon while briefing for team managers will take place on Sept 19 at 10am.
