KOTA KINABALU: Sutera Harbour Resort celebrated the holy month of Ramadan with its annual Breaking of Fast gathering with 25 Rumah Anak Yatim (RAY) Nur Taqwa Kota Belud children at The Magellan Sutera Resort yesterday evening.

The event, graced by Head of Sabah State's consort Toh Puan Dr Norlidah Tan Sri RM Jasni with son Major Al Hambra, is one of their many Corporate Social Responsibility projects to foster the spirit of togetherness with its government and corporate guests, and resort personnel.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer Gerard Tan and the Sutera Harbour Resort's Executive Committee, Head of Departments and associates from the Sales & Marketing Department also welcomed guests that included Education and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Yusof Yakob, Law and Native Affairs Minister Datuk Aidi Moktar and soonto-be officially sworn in Health and People's Wellbeing Minister Datuk Frankie Poon, among other dignitaries.

Sutera Harbour Resort and Yayasan Nur Jauhar donated Raya packets to the 25 underprivileged children during the event.

On top of that, Sutera Harbour Resort also gave away Baju Raya to the children of the 2016 established home, which has 17 male and eight female students from Kota Belud.

RAY Nur Taqwa is under the Islamic Religious Affairs Department of Sabah (JHEAINS) wing and is the only religious boarding primary school in Sabah.

The children, some orphans, range from four to 16 years old, and are mainly from poor families, broken-home families and converts.

From time to time, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, the school receives many contributions from both individuals and NGOs in the form of daily necessities as well as cash.
