Sabahan entrepreneur makes her mark on int’l fashion scene
KOTA KINABALU: Sabahan entrepreneur Datuk Rahmahjan Khan has carved a name for herself in the international fashion industry by bringing her brands RJ Couture and JKhan to Milan, London, Korea and Singapore since seven years ago.
A few years later, just like a quote by Frank Ocean — “Work hard in silence, let your success be your noise”, Rahmahjan’s brands had already penetrated the Middle East market.
This year, she is aiming for the New York market.
“I have been very busy for the past five years, focusing on Europe and the Middle East, but now my brands already have its strong foundation there.
“My next focus is on New York,” she told The Borneo Post during RJ Couture and JKhan handbags Hari Raya preview, held at the Pacific Sutera Hotel recently. It was the first preview she hosted in Sabah after five years. “I used to host annual preview for my customers in Sabah, because my Sabahan customers are special to me. They are all my friends.
“But when I was building my foundation in the international scene, I have to hold some events here, and opened a showroom in Magellan Sutera.
“This year, I decided to make a special preview for my Hari Raya collections because the celebration is around the corner. I must give my customers here the privilege to wear something special for Aidilfitri,” she said.
During the event several dresses of all sizes were paraded by models on the catwalk attended by some 100 fashion enthusiasts.
They were well received by the audience which responded with rapturous applauses and later with purchases.
