KKCCCI urges support for ‘KK Moving Forward' program

-

Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) president Datuk Michael Lui has urged the people to give their full cooperation towards the “KK Moving Forward” programme initiated by the State Government and Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) to enhance the state capital's cleanliness, hygiene and beautification in an effort to create a truly livable, smart and business-friendly city.

He highlighted the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Shafie Apdal's remark that the DBKK collected up to 800 tons of rubbish per day.

While he thanked Shafie for the plan to allocate RM1 million for the city's waste management next year, Lui said the people could not solely rely on the government and enforcement to maintain cleanliness in public areas.

“We should all set a good example for the people around us.”

He also stressed the importance to instil civic values among children in schools to ensure the places we work, study, live and play remained clean and hygienic.

Additionally, Lui agreed with DBKK's move to provide sufficient rubbish bins in the city to prevent people from littering.

He believed that the concerted effort between the government and people would not only attract foreign investors and tourists to Kota Kinabalu, but would also create a livable and innovative environment that was conducive for businesses.

He said KKCCCI was ready to team up with DBKK once again to implement the “My Rubbish, My Responsibility” awareness campaign.
