-

The Sandakan Inter-churches and Prison Fellowship Malaysia (Sandakan chapter) are organising a walkathon event named ‘Walk for Jesus’ which will be held tomorrow (August 25) at 4 pm at the Municipal Field (Padang Bandaran) here.

Walk for Jesus is a statewide event in which 22 towns and cities will be conducting the same event at the same time.

The event aims to raise funds to support the work of Prison Fellowship Malaysia which help to rebuild the lives and provide the needs of prison inmates and their family members.

Besides accepting direct donations from churches, individuals and organisation, the event will also see the sale of the Walk for Jesus t-shirt to all church members and friends.

All donations received will be channelled to the ministry work of Sandakan Inter-Churches and Prison Fellowship Malaysia.

The event will start at 3.10 pm with praise and worship, words of encouragement and speeches, followed by the walk at 4 pm sharp.

The walk starts from the Municipal field to Sandakan Yacht Club and back.

The organisers are expecting a crowd of about 4,000 Christians from different churches in Sandakan.

Besides raising funds, the organisers also gather to pray for the welfare of Sandakan town and our nation. They believe that the Christian community in Malaysia can play a part in making a difference in this nation as the Christians are united to pray and contribute to the good of our nation.

Therefore, members of the Christian community in Sandakan are invited to join the walk and to pray at this event. The walk is free of charge for those who are interested to join.
