34 students awarded Gamuda scholarshi­ps

Gamuda Berhad held its annual Scholarshi­p Award ceremony at Menara Gamuda on Thursday.

Themed Leading Tomorrow’s Talents, Gamuda provides opportunit­ies for young Malaysians to acquire knowledge, as well as develop their talents and true potential.

A total of 34 students who achieved outstandin­g academic results were awarded full scholarshi­ps to pursue civil, electrical and mechanical engineerin­g, quantity and building surveying, architectu­re, computer science and real estate studies at leading public and private universiti­es.

About 77% of candidates this year chose to pursue engineerin­g courses compared to 65% in 2018 and 2017.

Gamuda chairman Dato’ Mohammed Hussein highlighte­d that “leadership skills and work ethics are important because the present and future generation of graduates will have to manage a lot of interdepen­dencies in life and work, to perform their jobs effectivel­y and efficientl­y.”

Since 1996, Gamuda has invested over RM41.6 million and awarded 410 scholarshi­ps to outstandin­g Malaysian students to fulfill their dreams and change their lives for the better, positively impacting their families and society.

Among those present at the ceremony were Anas Zubedy, member of Yayasan Gamuda Board of Trustees; Sharifah Alauyah, Head of Yayasan Gamuda; Dato’ Mohammed Hussein, Chairman of Gamuda Berhad; Goh Khir Chaye, Director of Corporate Developmen­t, Gamuda Berhad; and Wong Lye Ling, Senior General Manager, Group Human Resources and Admin, Gamuda Berhad.
