Carlsberg welcomes new managing director
KUALA LUMPUR: Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd has appointed Stefano Clini, an Italian aged 53, as new managing director (MD) effective October 26, 2019.
He will succeed outgoing MD Ted Akiskalos in managing the company’s operations in Malaysia and Singapore as well as representing the company in Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC, Sri Lanka as a board member.
Clini is currently MD of Carlsberg Vietnam Breweries Ltd since September 2017. Under his leadership, Carlsberg Vietnam has had a successful turnaround with record growth in both top- and bo om-line.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Stefano Clini as our new MD effective October 26, 2019,” Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia chairman Datuk William Toh Ah Wah said.
“Having had prior experiences and insights on the Malaysia and Singapore markets from his previous MD role with a tobacco company based in Kuala Lumpur,
“I am confident that Stefano will continue to deliver continuous growth in both the operations thus enhancing sustainable shareholder value.” Prior to joining Carlsberg Vietnam, Clini was MD of the British American Tobacco Malaysia responsible for the Malaysia and Singapore operations from 2013 to 2016.
He has 30 years of experiences in the global consumer goods industry and had held various senior leadership and commercial roles within the H.J. Heinz in Italy from 2005 to 2013 and the Procter and Gamble (P&G) in Italy, Belgium, Switzerland and Turkey from 1990 to 2005.
