Abdul Rahman should be grateful to PBS – Mandut
KOTA MARUDU: Labuk assemblyman Abdul Rahman Kongkawang should owe it to Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBD) for his debut in politics.
And the same party also gave him the opportunity to shine by fielding him as a candidate in the last general election.
“Unfortunately, he chose to bite the hands that fed him. It’s a show of betrayal,” said PBS Youth chief Christopher Mandut.
He said Abdul Rahman’s recent statement, claiming that PBS had wildly suggested that the Warisanled State Government caused a recent spate of fires in order to issue citizenship papers to illegal immigrants, was baseless.
Abdul Rahman also claimed that PBS has no proof of the citizenship drive by Warisan.
“It surprised me how Abdul Rahman could easily forget his past struggles with PBS, especially on issues related to illegal immigrants. He backstabbed us by telling lies.
“If he felt there was something amiss, he could have joined other political parties long ago. But why only now? How could he betray us this way?
“Instead of focusing on badmouthing PBS that provided him the opportunity to be an assemblyman, Abdul Rahman should focus on realising the reasons he gave for hopping,” said Mandut.
Abdul Rahman said his reason for joining Warisan was due to his inability to bring development to Labuk, being in the opposition.
Reiterating PBS information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai’s words, Mandut also advised Abdul Rahman to refrain from being used as a puppet by leaders in his new party.
“PBS never taught you to be a traitor. We had always worked as a team, and it saddens me how you could betray us this way.
“We respect your decision to leave PBS for Warisan. So let us be, let the PBS loyalists handle the party struggles, mission and vision. You should concentrate and work harder to serve your new political home,” said Mandut.
