Chua installed as president of KK Advanced Toastmasters Club
KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu Advanced Toastmasters Club's Executive Committee 2019-2020, led by their new president Chua Hong Cheong, a senior manager with Shell, was installed during its 19th Installation Dinner, with the theme “A Night on the Red Carpet,” on October 5.
The installation was conducted by Area K2 Director Ahmad Najib Bin Ahmad Afandi at the event graced by Division K Toastmasters Director, Azlina Abdul Jalil, and attended by some 100 members and guests.
The other members of the Executive Committee are immediate past president Ahmad Dhiyauddeen Bin Abdul Shukor, vice president Education Ibranik Iskandarian Peter, vice president Membership Adina Affendy, vice president Public Relations Wong Li Vun, secretary Hasanal Hassan Alban, treasurer Jess Renny and sergeant at At arms Amir Aliff Amri.
In her speech. Azlina highlighted that club officers help and encourage each other, and in the process learn and grow as well because they are making a commitment and difference in other people's lives.
She added that she had visited the club's meeting before, and was impressed by the level of commitment, efficiency and effectiveness of the members, which she had observed at the meeting.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Dhiyauddeen declared that the club achieved the coveted President's Distinguished Club Award with a perfect score of 10 out of 10 goals for the term 20182019, while Chua expounded on the presidential theme for the term, “Commitment, Prelude to Success.”
Ahmad Dhiyauddeen presented tokens of appreciation to his Executive Committee 2018-2019, and educational awards to the deserving recipients, namely Raja Ainna Raja Mat Nor, Ibranik Iskandarian Peter, Wong Li Vun, Adina Affendy, Chua Hong Cheong, Syed Nabil Bin Syed Abdul Nasir, Ahmad Najib Bin Ahmad Afandi, Jess Vun, Sylma Jepin and himself.
Sylma Jepin was named the club's Toastmaster of the Year 2018-2019.
In keeping with the theme of the evening, Wong Li Vun was voted as the Red Carpet Queen while Ganesh Rao took the title of Red Carpet King.
Lucky draws added excitement to the evening which was accentuated by Syed Nabil's stand-up comedy and capped by Ruzaini Roslan's song renditions.
The organising chairperson of the event was Wong Li Vun while Richard Gontusan served as the Toastmaster of the evening.
