PM shops at supermarket, happy people observing social distancing

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin visited a supermarket here yesterday and expressed satisfaction that Malaysians are taking heed of the government advice for the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

He said that from his observation, he is happy to note that the people are complying with the need for social distancing during the MCO, which is in force from March 18 to April 14 in a bid to break the chain of infection of Covid-19.

“This morning, I went to a supermarket in Kuala Lumpur. I was looking for some stuff and observed what the customers were doing. Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), many are aware of the need for social distancing,” he posted on his official social media platforms.

Muhyiddin was seen with a face mask and gloves on and himself practised social distancing at the supermarket.

The prime minister, just like the other customers, allowed his temperature to be taken before he entered the supermarket.

Muhyiddin shopped for some items at the supermarket which had a plentiful supply of essential goods.

“This supermarket is wellstocked. We do not have to panic,” he said.

The prime minister's post on social media drew positive comments from the people, with many saying he is a leader who walks the talk, coming out to shop for essential goods alone as the head of the household as the government wants the people to do.

Some made comments in a lighter vein and prayed for his good health.

Hafizah Husin (posted on Facebook): He walks the talk. Only the head of the household can go shopping. A good leader he is. Pray that God blesses TSMY with good health always. Malaysia needs u!

Faiz Shauqi (Facebook): Salam (Greetings) Tan Sri .... Hope Tan Sri does not visit public places too often. Tan Sri, you are the country's leader. Reduce the risk. We, the people, pray for your good health, TSMY. Amin.

SK Chew (Facebook): Good example. Head of household coming out alone to buy essential goods -social distancing.

Jeremy Lim (Facebook): Yes, a Prihatin PM (caring PM) should always stand by the rakyat (people) n feel like what the ordinary people behave.

@saiful_razali69 (Twitter): Don't mistake galangal for ginger, Tan Sri. Puan Sri may not approve. #MyPM.

sidharta_bozz (Instagram): Keep safe and keep healthy, Tan

Sri @muhyiddinyassin_official.
