LAHAD DATU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and Marine Police Force (MPF) here joined forces to ensure the Movement Control Order (MCO) is fully complied by the maritime community.

Director of Lahad Datu Zone MMEA, Commander Abdul Muhaimin Muhammad Salleh said various efforts were carried out to ensure the smoothness and success of MCO.

Abdul Muhaimin said they have increased the number of operations which are carried out round the clock.

“A total of 18 boats are mobilized to carry out the operations and these efforts have contributed to the 95 percent compliance rate.

“During the operations, we also made announcement about the implementation of MCO in three different languages so that the maritime community could have better understanding,” he said.

Abdul Muhaimin said this during the MCO Compliance Monitoring Operations with Lahad Datu MPF Deputy Commanding Officer, ASP Sudirman Latip Karim.

According to Abdul Muhaimin, the announcement was a result of the collaboration with the Information Department and it also contributed to the effectiveness of the operations.

The maritime community, he said, should give cooperation by complying with the MCO to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

He also hopes that the percentage of compliance rate will increase so that the main objective of MCO implementation, which is to break the chain of Covid-19, could be achieved.
