Arrange for China experts to come to Sabah – SCCC

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) president Datuk Frankie Liew has appealed to the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu to arrange for a team of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) experts from China to Sabah in effort to enhance the detection and treatment procedure in local hospitals.

Liew also commended China for providing valuable knowledge and information on Covid-19 to other countries.

He said Chinese experts have shared their experience in fighting the pandemic online on March 26, where they also answered questions raised by other countries that would help them in preventing the spread of the virus as well as detecting and treating Covid-19 patients.

Liew said the experts have provided their technical knowledge in the pathological features of Covid-19, prevention and control strategy, clinical treatment, tracking and other pertinent information to more than 180 countries and over 10 international and regional organizations.

In addition, he was also thankful for the first batch of face masks donated by the Chinese consulate general together with China State Construction Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd, China Railway Dongfang Group Sdn Bhd, Sinohydro Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd and Bornion Guangken Rubber Sdn Bhd, to the State Government.

“Just a month ago, the State Government and Chinese associations in Sabah have raised RM2 million for the We Care, We Love charity dinner for China in its fight against Covid-19.

“Now the tide has turned, and the pandemic has spread to Sabah.

“China, which has successfully contained the Covid-19 outbreak and is gradually resuming its economic activities, has immediately lent its assistance to Sabah.”

He said the Covid-19 does not discriminate by nationality, race or wealth.

“All of us should have compassion and empathy, instead of blaming those infected from religious gatherings.”

He said the pandemic was unprecedented for the last century and a major crisis for Malaysia.

“Besides protecting yourself and family, we should practise more tolerance and understanding and work together in fighting against the pandemic.

“I believe Malaysia will be able to overcome this challenging time soon and thereafter our economy will be back on track.”
