30,000 face masks for Tawau
TAWAU: Member of Parliament Datuk Christina Liew has sent about 30,000 pieces of disposable face masks to her parliamentary constituency.
The items were flown here by MASwings on Monday morning, and will be handled by a team from the Tawau Parlimentary People’s Service Centre.
Tawau Parliamentary Chief Liaison Officer, Fung Thin Yein represented Liew in the distribution exercise.
“Some 14,000 pieces have been distributed to the Tawau Hospital while another 4,000 pieces were given to the Health Clinic. Two thousand others were set aside for the use of the Tawau Municipal Council’s (MPT) Enforcement Division and other frontline staff and workers.
“Another 2,000 face masks were distributed to the Tawau District Police Headquarters (IPD Tawau) for police personnel manning the roadblocks, among others. In addition, the Sabah Detention Centre, Tawau received 300 pieces. And some 1,500 pieces will be shared among the hawkers at the UTC Central Market and Pasar Sin Onn.
“This is the first round of contribution of medical supplies. I hope to get more in the near future for the people of Tawau,” Liew said in a statement on Monday.
Urging the people of Tawau to observe the Movement Control Order (MCO), the Deputy Chief Minister reminded the people to wear their face masks whenever it is necessary for them to go out.
“Stay at home, and you will be doing a great service to yourself, your community and to the people at large in Tawau,” she added.
