Sabah Bersatu Youth lauds economic stimulus package

-

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Armada (Youth) Sabah lauded the RM250 billion Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package as it truly leaves no one behind in Malaysia.

Its deputy chief, Ceasar Mandela Malakun, said the stimulus package, announced by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on March 27, is in line with the number one goal of protecting the people in the face of the global coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) crisis.

Ceasar added as a youth organization, Armada Sabah applauds Prihatin Rakyat as it also includes the youth who are also facing challenges during the Covid19 pandemic.

He said this includes the RM250 Prihatin Cash Assistance for single individuals aged 21 and above earning between RM2,001 and RM4,000 per month, the postponement for Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran (PTPK) and Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) loan payments, RM800 National Prihatin Assistance to single individuals aged 21 and above earning less than RM2,000 per month, RM200 assistance to higher learning institution students, RM500 to e-hailing drivers, free internet and others.

“The government’s guarantee of adequate food supply is also very encouraging and as Malaysians, we do not need to be caught up in the panic buying habit. Moreover, traders especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have also not been left behind in the packages that have been announced,” said Caesar in a statement here.

“Armada Sabah would also like to welcome the RM2 billion direct investment on small projects like improvement of roads, upgrading of dilapidated schools in Sabah and Sarawak, cleaning of worship places and police stations, and improvement of tourism facilities that will benefit G1 to G4 contractors.

“Such initiatives should not be misunderstood as it creates economic spin-offs. When a contractor is appointed to carry out a project, they will buy supplies from suppliers that will also earn an income and hire employees.

“In addition, the contractor would also be able to provide jobs to the B40 groups in the announced project areas. During the project period, staff can buy food and drinks and this will stimulate local economic growth. Such initiatives should be intensified,” added Ceasar, who is also Armada Penampang chief.
