Volunteers working round the clock to get food aid sent to villages – Peter

-

KOTA MARUDU: The government machinery is currently working round the clock to send out food aid to villages to ensure that those in need will get their assistance.

Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony said he was hoping those who were eligible for food aid would be patient as the machinery was working with extra precaution so as to avoid the spread of Covid-19.

“Our machinery, mostly volunteers from Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan), are helping the police and Rela in the distribution process, which is led by district officer,” said Peter this to reporters yesterday after handing over the food aid to the volunteers and security personnel in Kota Marudu.

He added the machinery there was updating on the assistance to be distributed on a daily basis.

“In Kota Marudu, the distribution is led by district office, so we are hoping essential goods contributed by the government will be delivered as soon as possible.

“I thank all volunteers and personnel who are working tirelessly during this Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

“The state government spent around RM20,000 assistance to our volunteers, we give them food so that they will have rice on their table, and not to worry about food at home while at work,” he said.

Peter also announced that SMK Tandek 2 is a quarantine centre for Kota Marudu.

He said basic facilities including water would be installed there to ensure the health provider would have a proper place for treatment.
