Mr. D.I.Y joins mission to aid frontliner­s

KUALA LUMPUR: Home improvemen­t retailer MR. D.I.Y is assisting The Edge Covid-19 Fund to source for 35,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) suits and one million three-ply face masks for Malaysia.

MR. D.I.Y. Group (M) Berhad managing director Adrian Ong said in helping healthcare frontliner­s in their fight against Covid-19, the company had also purchased an additional 1,000 PPE suits to donate to healthcare profession­als here.

MR. D.I.Y will also be providing its logistics teams and delivery fleet to distribute this medical safety equipment to more than 30 hospitals in the country, together with three nongovernm­ental organisati­ons -- Mercy Malaysia, IMARETIsla­mic Medical Associatio­n of Malaysia and Malaysian Relief Agency.

“This special humanitari­an mission is Corporate Malaysia's way of giving back, in a very tangible way, to support the heroes at the frontline against Covid-19.

“This outbreak is a sobering reminder of the personal sacrifices these brave men and women are making in their tireless efforts to protect us. I wish to thank the team at MR. D.I.Y. who had worked under tight deadlines to coordinate the purchase of the items, the logistics and distributi­on to the hospitals, NGOs and other public services,” he said in a statement yesterday.
