One new Covid-19 case in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU: Only one new positive corona virus( C ovid -19) case was recorded in Sabah yesterday, bringing the total number of cases to 210 in the state.
State Health Director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said that the new case was detected in Beaufort.
"This figure does not reflect the actual number of incidents as there are still samples that are yet to be processed. Therefore, all precautionary measures previously taken should still be continued," said Rundi in a statement yesterday.
She explained that 42.9 percent of the confirmed cases were related to the Ijtima gathering in the Sri Petaling Jaya Mosque while another 49 per ent were contact cases.
The remaining cases were related to infections contracted from outside of Sabah, from countries such as the United
Kingdom, Vietnam and Thailand.
Meanwhile, one Covid-19 patient in Tuaran had recovered, bringing the total number of patients who recovered to 13 in the state.
As of 8am yesterday (April 2), Sabah has had a total of 197 Covid19 patients, 87 persons under investigation (PUIs) and 22 Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) patients, all of which had been receiving treatment at separate six tertiary hospitals in the state.
Rundi further revealed that one more quarantine centre had been set up in Tongkungan Hostel, Tambunan Sports Complex, thus bringing the total number of quarantine centres to 26 in Sabah.
She also brushed off news article published by an online portal, claiming that three Gaya Island residents had been infected with Covid-19.
