Duo charged with syabu traffickin­g

KOTA KINABALU: Two men were tentativel­y charged in separate Magistrate's Courts here yesterday with separate charges of traffickin­g in syabu.

In the first case, Faiz Abu Imbin, 24, who was brought before magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, was accused of traffickin­g in 101.76grams of syabu by the roadside of Tuaran bypass at 1.35pm on June 27.

The magistrate fixed September 2 to re-mention the case of Faiz, who was represente­d by counsel Amli Nohin.

In the second case, Siddik Abdullah was alleged to have trafficked in 51.15grams of syabu at Taman Seri Indah in Sepanggar at 12.55am on June 26.

Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun, who heard Siddik's case, set August 11 for the case to be mentioned again.

No plea was recorded from both the accused persons, who were charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The indictment provides for a death sentence or an imprisonme­nt for life or with whipping, upon conviction.

The duo will be further detained pending disposal of their cases.
