PKR Ranau branch remains intact – Christina

-

RANAU: Sabah PKR Chief Datuk Christina Liew said the party's Ranau Branch remains intact despite the departure of then incumbent branch head, Jonathan Yasin.

"It was perceived that when he jumped ship, others would follow suit. On the contrary, there was no exodus because the rest of the branch leaders and members did not want to become political 'frogs', and neither did they wish to pawn the dignity of the party's struggle," she said.

Christina, who is also a Deputy Chief Minister, was speaking at the official opening of the new PKR Ranau Branch Office and launching of the new Branch Committee led by Peter Sumping, at the Lohan Rest House here yesterday.

She advised the new branch head to seek guidance from Sabah PKR Deputy Chief, Mustapha Sakmud, who is also her Political Secretary, and PKR State Leadership Council (MPN) Secretary, Abdul Razak Jamil, in running the branch.

The Sabah PKR Chief commended Peter and his team for their effort in keeping the fort and strengthening the branch's position.

"Syabas! We welcome those who are interested to join PKR, and I understand there are new members here today," she said, while calling on the new leadership to reactivate the branch and take care of members' well-being as well as that of the local community.

Meanwhile, Christina reminded them to be prepared for the 15th General Election and the possibility of a snap election.

Earlier, Peter pledged the branch's support for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as PKR President and Datuk Christina Christina as Chairperson of the PKR State Leadership Council (MPN).

He also assured that more people were registering as members of the party's Ranau branch.

Also present were Sabah PKR Vice-Chief Kenny Chua, Christina's Political Secretary Vivien Christina and Warisan Ranau Division Chief Siriman Hj Basir.
