TUARAN: The villagers at Kampung Penimbawan here are no longer facing water problem.

A survey carried out on the efficacy of the gravity water supply upgrade project worth RM170,000 shows that it has changed the lives of the villagers for the better.

Previously, before the project was implemented, the villagers had to take water from outside their houses.

Kampung Penimbawan 1 chief Abdul Rahim Tehe, 68, said all the villagers were happy their problem had been resolved.

“As a representative of the kampung folks, I would like to extend my gratitude to the State Government, in particular Tuaran MP cum Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima

Wilfred (Madius) Tangau for helping us to resolve the water supply issue in this village,” he said.

He added that now, all the houses were supplied with water.

Tasrin Madisa, 47, said his family is comfortable that their house is now supplied with water.

“We can bathe with ease, unlike before when we have to line up to collect water and transport it to our house using wheelbarrow,” he said.

The chairperson of the Village Community Management Committee (MPKK), Derin Banih, 63, was glad and explained that such an amenity had never been experienced by the villagers before.

“We hope that the water supply will be sustainable and this village will continue to get the attention of the government when it comes to development,” he said.

Sigar, 45, also expressed his gratitude to Madius and said that it had been the aspiration of all the villagers to be granted such a facility.

Meanwhile, Madius who visited the village, said that there were two main water tanks to ensure there was ample water supply.

He said that a tank with a holding capacity of 30,000 gallons had been installed atop a hill, while another tank with a capacity of 10,000 gallons was located in the village.

He said that the water supply would be able to meet the needs of 316 families at the village.
