Hands-free thermometers for 17 schools
KOTA KINABALU: Seventeen schools have received automatic hands-free thermometers in preparation of the reopening of schools.
The thermometers were donated by sponsors secured by GoNet Holdings Sdn Bhd, with the Federation of Chinese Associations of Sabah (FCAS) as the facilitator.
FCAS president Tan Sri T.C. Goh said the federation would work with businesses in providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to schools.
As a non-governmental organization (NGO), he said FCAS relied on the government, business community and sponsors for its income or activities fund.
“We strive to provide PPE to schools but our funds are limited.
“We will work with the business community to see what we can do for schools,” he said at the handover ceremony of the thermometers yesterday.
The event also saw a donation of 1,000 face masks each to Hwa Lian Kindergarten and SJK(C) Hwa Lian,
Kudat by FCAS.
Goh also hoped that the Board of Governors, teachers, parents and children would abide by the standard operating procedures (SOPs) when schools reopened to prevent the transmission of Covid19.
Meanwhile, GoNet Holdings Sdn Bhd managing director Dr James Yong Chau Leong said the company had raised 40 units of the automatic hands-free thermometer knowing that the item was needed as part of the SOPs for schools.
He added that the company had launched ‘GoSuhu’, a QR code-based check-in system under the GoNet smartphone application, which eliminated the use of pen to register contact details.
“This not only speeds up the queue during check-in registration, but also avoids the risk of infection from sharing a pen and paper.
“The app also accurately records the check-in time and body temperature of each person, making it a safer, more convenient and efficient experience.”
Furthermore, James said the GoSport feature in GoNet enabled schools to rent out their badminton and basketball courts for additional income.
“GoNet Holdings Sdn Bhd will work with schools nationwide to implement a cashless system with our GoPay e-wallet,” he added.
The 17 schools that received the thermometers are SJK(C) Pai Wen Ranau, SJK(C) Anglo Chinese, SJK(C) St James, SJK(C) Chung Hwa Tamparuli, SJK(C) Lok Yuk Likas, SJK(C) Chen Sin Tuaran, SJK(C) Good Shephard and Good Shephard Kindergarten Menggatal, SJK(C) Tsi Tsin Tenom, SJK(C) St Philip Tamparuli, SJK(C) Yick Nam Inanam, SJK(C) Yuk Hwa Tenom, SJK(C) Chung Hwa Kota Belud, SJK(C) Yue Min Penampang, San Yuk Kindergarten, SJK(C) Kung Ming Beaufort, Yuk Yu Penampang Kindergarten and SJK(C) Kok Wah Talibong Tuaran.
