Rotarians distribute second batch of food aid to Tawau villagers
TAWAU: The Rotary Club of Tawau carried out the second batch of food aid distribution to the poor at Mile 4, Kampung Tanjung Batu and Kampung Serudong at Mile 18, Bukit Quion Road, Balung on Saturday morning.
Its president, Tony Wong, accompanied by past president (PP) Frankie, president-elect Philip Yong, assistant governor S. Nokiah, rotarians Christy Fe Salazar, Lim Shan Yie and Jason Ong, and PP Matthias Chin went to the villages to distribute 35 sets of food aid to the deserving families which were identified and shortlisted by Community
Service chairperson Christy Fe Salazar together with village heads.
The balance sets of food aid were distributed at Mile 4, Kampung Tanjung Batu, Damai Road and Hill-Top to the second batch of recipients who were either sickly poor, old folks, disabled or handicapped. The recipients were thankful to the Rotarians' generosity when receiving the food aid.
The aid was made possible through collaboration with the Rotary Club of Damansara-West in partnership with College of Ophthalmologists Academy of Medicine, Malaysia, Disaster
Aid Malaysia and Disaster Aid Australia that donated a total of RM60,000 worth of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for the medical frontliners and food aid for the poorest communities in Sabah during this Covid-19 pandemic.
Rotary Club of Tawau was honoured to have this collaboration in providing logistic coordination and distribution effort in this second batch of food aid comprising rice, eggs, dry noodles, cooking oil, condensed milk, sardines, flour, salt, coffee powder, soya sauce and instant noodles to the deserving families.
