LAHAD DATU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Silam will send aid as soon as possible to flood victims who have been evacuated to Dewan Serbaguna Pusat Latihan Vokasional Pertanian as well as those who stranded in their respective homes after the road to their villages was cut off due to floods.

Bersatu Silam Vice Head of Division, Abdul Rahim Ghulam Hassan said they had seen the needs and necessities of the flood victims and he has discussed with the Community Development Leader of the area for further action.

He said if possible, assistance such as daily necessities and basic food will be delivered tomorrow (Friday).

“We also received information that about 70 families are currently stranded in their respective home due to flood and we will make sure that aid will reach them as soon as possible,” he said.

Abdul Rahim said this when met during his visit to the evacuation centre which was currently accommodating eight families from Kampung Batu 8, Kampung Sepadulang and Kampung Segama Lama, yesterday.

In the meantime, Abdul Rahim also advised affected villagers to adhere to the order of authorities to avoid any untoward incident.

He said the safety of the villagers is the priority during this crucial time and the villagers should worry about their safety over their property.

“If the authority orders you to leave your house, please do so, do not worry about your house, but worry about your safety.

“We will assist as best as possible including in property damage due to flood,” he added.

Meanwhile, Segama Community Development Leader, Mizma Appehdullah conveyed her thanks to the attentiveness of Bersatu as well as other parties in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to the flood victims.

She also added that she will ensure monitoring work would be done from time to time especially on the drainage at Segama areas to avoid massive flood.
