Perdasama urges govt to consider 5 proposals to reduce burden of traders
LABUAN: The Malay Traders and Entrepreneurs Association of Malaysia (Perdasama) is urging the government to consider giving some relaxation to assist the business community in light of the reinstatement of the Movement Control Order (MCO), conditional MCO and recovery MCO for different places nationwide.
In a statement to Bernama, the association outlined five proposals that should be considered by the government to alleviate the financial burden of entrepreneurs and traders, namely to reintroduce the loan moratorium, reduce or eliminate business licence fees, provide business capital assistance, lower monthly electricity tariffs, and reduce monthly Internet subscription fees.
“Perdasama welcomes any measures from the government to curb the spread of the Covid19 pandemic and efforts to help entrepreneurs in the country. We, therefore, hope our proposals will be considered.
“As the government seeks to control the spread of the pandemic by re-enforcing the MCO in five states and three Federal Territories, in addition to the CMCO and RMCO in other states, the financial burden implications to be borne by the business community should also be taken into account,” it said.
Meanwhile, Perdasama lauded the decision of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong AlSultan
Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah who consented to the government’s proposal to set up an independent committee comprising government and opposition Members of Parliament (MPs), as well as health experts, to make recommendations to His Majesty if it deems fit that the emergency can be withdrawn earlier than Aug 1, 2021.
Its president Major (R) Datuk Abdull Rahim Saad also urged entrepreneurs not to worry or panic because business and economic activities are allowed to operate as usual in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Ministry of Health. — Bernama
