KUALA LUMPUR: The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM) has continued to strengthen its service delivery system with the introduction of its My Local Stats interactive visualisation platform, in tandem with the implementation of the government’s digital initiatives.

In a statement, chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the platform, which is available on DoSM’s website and mobile application (app), will assist users in searching for socioeconomic statistics, up to the administrative district level.

“Through this platform, users can access information at their fingertips,” he said, adding that the app would also improve the public’s statistical literacy.

He said My Local Stats contains key socio-economic statistics at the administrative district level for 2017 to 2019, based on the publication of My Local Stats 2019 published on Oct 19, 2020.

Overall, Mohd Uzir said the interactive visualisation comprises 17 areas and contains 332 indicators in the web and 117 indicators in mobile apps.

Areas covered include statistics on population, housing, employment, household income and expenditure, education, health, welfare services, public safety, communications and recreation, internet and social media, basic amenities and gross domestic product (GDP).

The web version of the platform also includes labour market indicators by administrative district, statistics on fire breakouts, prisoners, road accidents, drug addicts and closed-circuit television (CCTV).

For the mobile app, new indicators also include the registration of people with disabilities and road accident statistics.

Users can log in at www. dosm.gov.my under the Interactive Visualisation (My Local Stats) or download the My Local Stats mobile app.

The department had also produced a brief video on the method for using My Local Stats web version and mobile apps that have been uploaded on DoSM’s portal and social media.

Meanwhile, following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO), Mohd Uzir said the second phase of the Malaysia Population and Housing Census 2020 via face-to-face interview will be rescheduled.

Therefore, those who have not completed the census can take the opportunity to fill in the online census (e-Census) which has been reopened.

Further information on the Malaysia Census 2020 can be obtained through the census portal www.mycensus.gov.my or social media @ MyCensus2020.
