Beluru now Red Zone, Betong turns to Yellow Zone

KUCHING: Beluru is now a Red Zone, following the report of 27 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the district yesterday.

Previously, it was a Yellow Zone, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who is also the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman.

He added that in the last 14 days, Beluru District had recorded a total of 42 new locally-transmitte­d positive Covid-19 cases.

Uggah also said Betong District’s status had gone from being a Green Zone to becoming a Yellow Zone, after a total of seven new locallytra­nsmitted cases had been detected in this district over the last 14 days.

“Kuching, Sibu and Miri districts remain Red Zones with a total of 756 cases of local transmissi­ons reported in these three districts in the last 14 days.

“Sebauh District remains an Orange Zone, with 24 cases of locally-transmitte­d cases reported in the last 14 days,” he said in a press conference on Covid-19 updates yesterday.

Meradong, Julau, Kapit, Simunjan, Asajaya Beluru, Dalat, Selangau, Sebauh, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Bukit Mabong, Bintulu, Limbang and Kanowit districts maintained their Yellow Zone status, having reported a total of 60 locally-transmitte­d cases in the past 14 days.

The other 19 districts in Sarawak are still Green Zones.

There are seven active infection clusters in the state – the Bukit Sekubong Cluster in Sebauh, the Jelita Cluster and Bah Sayap Cluster in Miri, the Pasai Siong Cluster in Sibu, the Keranji Tabuan Cluster and Stutong Cluster in Kuching, and the Mador Cluster in Meradong.

The Pasai Siong Cluster remained the most active, with an increase of 65 cases recorded yesterday – bringing the total to 664 cases.

A total of 1,900 individual­s had been screened – 1,136 tested negative, and 100 still awaiting laboratory results.

The Stutong Cluster recorded an increase of two cases yesterday, bringing the total number to 40 cases. A total of 550 individual­s had been screened, of whom 510 tested negative.

There was an increase of one case in the Jelita Cluster yesterday, bringing the total number of cases in the cluster to 28. A total of 130 individual­s had been screened, of whom 102 tested negative.

Bukit Sekubong Cluster did not record any new case, meaning its total number of cases remained at 24. A total of 260 individual­s had been screened, of whom 213 tested negative and 23 still awaiting laboratory results.

The Keranji Tabuan Cluster also registered no new case – the total remained at 14 cases.

A total of 180 individual­s had been screened, of whom 166 tested negative.

The total number of cases in the Bah Sayap Cluster remained at 90 – a total of 700 individual­s had been screened, of whom 610 tested negative.
