M-League coaches thankful for online training programmes

-

Most Malaysia League (M-League) coaches are thankful that technology allows them to conduct online training programmes to ensure their players remain physically fit during the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in six states from Jan 13-26 to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Sabah FC head coach Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto admitted to being relieved that his players are still allowed to carry out outdoor leisure activities during the period to maintain their fitness.

“My players are now carrying out individual training and will inform me and my panel of coaches whenever they complete their training sessions. This is the only option we have for now,” he said in a statement issued by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) yesterday.

Police coach Mat Zan Mat Aris shared the same view and admitted that the implementation of the MCO has had a slight effect on the team’s preparation for the new M-League season, which is expected to kick off on Feb 26.

“We actually planned to start our training this week, but then the government announced the implementation of the MCO. This has forced us to draw up specific training programmes for each player.

“It is crucial that the players regain their fitness at this early stage so that they will be prepared for the second stage of training, which we hope to carry out when the MCO is lifted,” said the 62-year-old Mat Zan.

The MCO has been enforced in Penang, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Sabah and Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan).

However, for Sarawak, the MCO in three districts, namely Sibu, Selangau and Kanowit, is from Jan 16-29.
