PBB Youth lodges police report over video said to slandering CM and DCM

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth has lodged a police report over a video said to have been made with the intention of slandering Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

The recording, which has been circulating across various social media platforms over the past several days, is meant to mislead the public over the RM5-million annual Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation to the elected representatives from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), the state's present ruling coalition.

PBB Youth executive committee member Malcolm Layang Jimbun filed the police report at the Sungai Maong station around 4.30pm yesterday. He was accompanied Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh and other exco members.

Miro, who is PBB Youth deputy chief, said the police report was lodged to facilitate the action to be taken by the authorities against those behind the production and spread of the video.

“I know that this was done by a party so desperate of winning the people's hearts.

“This is not the way we do politics. In GPS, we observe clean politics.

“We don't sacrifice others in the name of politics,¡¨ said Miro when met after the police report was lodged.

The assemblyman did not dismiss the possibility of the video being produced with the intention of tarnishing the image of GPS, in view of the next state election.

“That's the purpose, but this is not the way we fight in politics we fight in politics to show what we're capable to do (things) for the people.”

According to Miro, a scene from the video depicts Abang Johari giving a speech about the RTP, but with accompanying images of people using 'cangkul' (hoes) to build a road.

“That's not showing the actual thing on the ground. The RTP is not merely about building roads it's inclusive of many projects such as building and improving public facilities, the facilities at school and those in places of worship.
