AIMS posits positive outlook for 2021

KUALA LUMPUR: The AIMS Group (AIMS), Southeast Asia’s leading carrier-neutral data centre services provider, is optimistic on the growth of the data centre industry in 2021.

AIMS cited multiple opportunities fueled by surging demands for data and cloud services to support digital transformation and business sustainability in Malaysia and the region.

One of the factors for the demand of data centre arises from the potential for continued remote work amidst the “new normal”.

This contributes to Gartner’s estimated six per cent increase in global IT spending growth to US$200 billion during 2021, and expected revenue growth of more than US$800 million by 2025 for Malaysia’s data centre sector.

Furthermore, according to Frost & Sullivan, emerging disruptive technologies such as AI and automation, and demand for secured big data to drive digital transformation and business sustainability in Asean, will fuel data centre industry growth as well.

“With the data centre and colocation market in Southeast Asia tipped to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 12.9 per cent to reach US$3.4 billion by 2024, AIMS will further enhance its dynamic digital ecosystem and cloud infrastructure in Asean to drive ongoing digitalisation efforts for local and global companies looking to expand their operations across the region and beyond,” AIMS chief executive officer Chiew Kok Hin said.

Positioned as one of the fastest growing regions in the world, Southeast Asia offers ease of access, a lower cost of entry, and a fast-growing base of techsavvy consumers to drive storage needs.

With that said, AIMS will continue to bolster and expand its regional and local data centre presence with its interlinked data centres across Southeast Asia.
